A whole bunch of those movies came out on HBO Max: The premiere streaming service usually has some highly anticipated releases, and this year was no exception. But! It was also a great time if you decided to skip movie theaters for streaming (aka, your couch) and an unprecedented opportunity to watch new movies the second they came out. The new movies and TV shows on HBO and Max in August include the second season of Winning Time, the sophomore season of Rap Sht, and a new season of Hark Knocks with the New York Jets. It's probably the understatement of the millennia, but 2021 has been a weird, sometimes fascinating year for film.
